The vase was made from a cylinder of clay painted with sodium silicate and blue stain and then stretched to create the cracks. It was then fired to 1500 degrees and smoked in a can with newspaper; the clay absorbs the smoke to create the dark color. It was then decorated with gold.

The piece is 9” high and 34” around. it is not water tight.
